Systems Consulting

In the past, computers were isolated islands of information. Today, very few computers do not have connections to the outside world. Collection, filtering, integration, distillation and presentation of pertinent and timely information is of the utmost importance to today's business entities in a fast-moving, competitive world. How best to achieve these objectives?

For medium to large businesses, my experience over the years has led me to order this process in terms of the following steps:

  •  Determine your strategic business objectives.
  •  Separate your business methods into three categories:
    •  Current business methods to be preserved.
    •  Current business methods to be discarded.
    •  New business methods to be instituted.
  •  Determine IT infrastructure changes: Hardware, Software, System Integration, Telecom, Training.
  •  Cost/Benefit analysis and vendor evaluation. Include Total Cost of Ownership (TOC).
  •  Development and review of the overall deployment plan.
  •  System Integration, Deployment and Training.

For small businesses, especially owner operated ones, an over-all plan should be developed, then small smaller sub-plans should be implemented in an incremental fashion. This eliminates the need for an expensive "all or nothing" plan, and allows the business to scale the infrastructure improvements as the revenue stream permits.

RedshiftInternet can develop a plan appropriate for your specific business type and size.
